Greater Manchester Mayor and ex-Cabinet minister Andy Burnham will deliver a keynote speech at the National Residential Landlords Association conference.
Burnham will be joining a line-up including household names such as former Dragon’s Den star James Caan, and – straight from the Strictly dancefloor – Nick Knowles who will be presenting the event at Birmingham’s NEC on November 6.
The private rented sector, homelessness and housing standards are issues close to Burnham’s heart, and in addition to being responsible for the region’s £300m housing investment fund, he launched the controversial Good Landlord Charter in the summer.
The voluntary scheme invites landlords to sign up to the charter to prove their commitment to offering decent homes, and also offers tenants the right to demand an inspection if they believe their property is not up to scratch.
He will discuss the charter and the role metro mayors can play in tackling the housing crisis, along with the importance of the private rented sector in meeting housing need.
NRLA chief executive Ben Beadle says: “As we know housing, particularly the private rented sector, is one of his key priorities, and we are interested to get his take on the legislation change up ahead as well as potential local funding streams for landlords in combined authority areas.
“I’m sure our delegates will also welcome the chance to get down to brass tacks and ask questions on the day.”
The one-day event will offer a wealth of information and practical guidance, from investment and financial advice to the very latest on legislation change being brought forward under the Renters’ Rights Bill.
There will also be ample opportunity to network with other property professionals, and a packed exhibition hall offering a huge range of products and services that can help support you and your business.
