Landlords asked for views on leasehold flats ban
The government is inviting landlords and others to comment on its proposal to introduce a ban on new leasehold flats.
Instead, it wants all new flats to be commonhold.
The government specifically wants to know landlord views on:
- What exemptions there should be;
- How a ban on new leasehold flats should operate as part of the move to common hold;
- When a ban on leasehold for new flats should start;
- What transitional arrangements might be needed; and
- The costs and benefits in moving to commonhold and complying with the ban.
The consultation closes on April 24.
