HM Treasury has announced that the official government Spring Forecast will be on March 3.
The government insists that it will not be a Budget, but will only “provide an interim update on the economy and public finances.”
The process will work like this. The independent Office for Budget Responsibility will prepare an economic and fiscal forecast for publication on March 3.
The government – specifically Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor – will respond to the March forecast through a statement to Parliament, in line with the government’s commitment to deliver one major fiscal event a year at the Budget.
